I’m still finishing up my sample, but it has a black leather cover with insides painted and stenciled in deep dark reds, trimmed in Victorian brass corners, and simply bound with brass rings. The morning is spent in mixed media madness as we completely cover large mat boards with paint, collage, markers etc.! The boards are then cut down into 15 - 20 5” x 7” postcards. The 5 best will be chosen to bind the book. Once the covers are prepared and the postcards are cut to size, we assemble the whole book. The afternoon is spent creating our unsent letters to the dead- a postal seance- with journaling prompts. These letters can be addressed to family and friends who have passed, but they can be to anyone, such as poets, writers, activists and others who have made an impact on your life. And some of them will even write you back!

Price includes most mixed media materials and all book-making materials. You will need a self-healing cutting board, a mat knife, and any added accoutrements for decorating the gothic covers. You will also need collage items; these can be family photos (copies of things that are precious) or ‘found’ family photos, memorabilia of those passed, lace, and all things postal such as postage stamps and rubber stamp cancellations. I’ll have plenty for you to experiment with!
