Field Notes Online Workshop
Field Notes Online Workshop
Summer Sketching Camp Field Notes; A Book of Reminders.
Mixed Media Sketching w/Juliana Coles
Dusting off another oldie but goodie workshop from Jule’s Journaling Archives! Now half price! Yes, the tripod is squeaky and loud in the filming, the editing is weird and quite honestly I'm weird, but you already know that about me. So register, be patient with the awkward video and join us for Sketching Summer Camp!
Pack your journal bags, this is the mixed media journey of a lifetime! For all levels of sketching/writing experience. Discover the online workshop, “Field Notes,” and learn my easy sketching assignments that anyone can do and have fun doing. You don’t have to be a world traveler to see the world; it is right in your own backyard, down the street, at your favorite café…
We can all draw, though it may not be how we expect it or how we think it should look so we are convinced we can’t do it. We’re not good at it. We don’t know how. We can’t draw a stick figure. We can’t draw even a straight line. It’s time I show you otherwise because drawing a straight line has nothing to do with expression.
In Field Notes we draw and keep a sketchbook to document the world around us- not to be great or render a perfect image; there’s little life in that. Drawing is note taking. Drawing is research. Drawing is learning to see and make comparisons between this and that. A scratch here, a line there, that we carve through our years and smear across the pages of our Sketchbook. So you won’t be learning perspective, water color or shading; you can learn that anywhere from anyone. I am going to challenge you to redefine what drawing is while you learn to make marks in your own unique style, in your own strange and beautiful hand through my pioneering methods of Expressive Drawing. Your drawings will not look like mine: they will look like your own.
