Though this is not a map making exercise per se, it is an experience in self- orienting as we dive down to the depths to collect buried inner information. It’s deep, dark, watery, and IT IS rich. The time has come to bring your treasure, disguised as the wreckage, to the surface. Illuminated by the power of the Visual Journaling process, we can see it for what it truly is. “The Compass Rose” online course provides tools for creating meaningful relationships out of the seemingly random events or ‘Lost Treasures/Wrecks,” of our lives. Through a multi-layered assignment that combines journal writing with simple art making exercises, you will transform the wreckage into the opportunity that shapes who you are now and who you are becoming.

No matter what age or stage of growth you find yourself, ‘Visual Journaling,’ a tool for self-dialogue, will help you work through life’s challenges and transitions. In this course learn how to combine journal writing with art making to explore self-truth and authenticity through radical expression. You won’t see a specific journal page as in, ‘we are making this and you are copying it,’ because you are not going to learn to work like me. Instead, you will uncover a boundless wealth of inner vision and creativity to express yourself as only you can. Yes, I’m talking about you. We all have something to say and this workshop provides the encouragement and tools you need to not only begin, but to finish an entire 2-page journaling spread.

We all have different levels of self-awareness. This workshop is designed so that those who have experience can plumb the depths and those who are new to self- expression and introspection can remain safely at the surface. You can go as deep as you want or need, or simply enjoy the creative aspect of layering words with images. There is no wrong way to uncovering your inner vision, but it does take time, patience, encouragement, and compassion. These inner voices are just as afraid to come out as you are to let them. In this workshop we create a safe place to invite them. Please be willing.
