In May 2023 I presented an artist talk and presentation about Altered Books for the Libros Book Arts Guild in Albuquerque. This booklet is essentially my script and I pretty much used it to give my entire talk. While it is not exactly a workbook, it does provide simple projects for altering a book. Topics included in the booklet are What is a visual journal? What is an artist book? What is an Altered Book? How do you Choose a book? What is a signature? How to create a fold out/triptych. How to create sleeves and add tabs. The booklet also provides an excellent Altered Books Resource and Reference list of my favorite books. This is a pretty simple booklet, just printed black and white copies stapled into a booklet kinda like a zine, but it gives the story of how I got started Visual Journaling and why I switched from working in blank sketchbooks to altering books for my Visual Journaling practice.
